This award recognises a project that brought fast, reliable broadband or mobile coverage to rural, remote or hard to reach communities. Judges look for the premises or people reached, the challenges overcome and the difference made.

Additional criteria
Entries should include a concise case study, supporting figures such as premises passed, coverage, uptime, speeds, take up, customer satisfaction or carbon saved, and, where possible, comments from customers or partners. Commercially sensitive figures can be given as ranges or percentages, and nothing in an entry is shared beyond the judging panel. Never include customer personal data, credentials or details of unresolved security weaknesses. Judges consider the size and stage of the business, so a regional alternative network provider competes on equal terms with a national operator.
